I have struggled with severe bipolar disorder for almost 2 years now along with some other problems I have.
I was at one point getting support and help for it and it improved but then high school came along and I relapsed. First of all, manic depression consists of 2 main periods; Depression – where you feel very low and lethargic Mania – where you feel very high and overactive During my depressive phases, I normally space out myself into a sort of daydream whether it’s from a happy memory or something I would like to happen. I tend to do this in class which can sometimes lead to me getting in trouble for not focusing but I prefer that over a breakdown in class. During mania, I tend to stay quiet and try to focus on one specific thing like reading a book or writing or watching a film. If I don’t do one of these then I tend to start bouncing about irrationally which could end really badly and I could get hurt. I myself have a very short attention span and have since I was a child so this is my biggest struggle. These are just my experiences and I hope they help you or offer you some insight into what life is like with manic depression. Sophie
