SydneyWriterI am a senior in high school in Mesa, Arizona. For the past four years I have been dealing with chronic pain as well as anxiety and depression and only recently did I start to get them under control. I am pansexual and I help run my school's GSA where we host monthly movie nights, discussions, and just generally try to be a safe space for all. Our little GSA has even been able to march in our city's pride parade every year since 2016, except for 2020. When I'm not working on college applications or school work, I enjoy spending time with my dog a pitbull, as well as working through my TBR list, I am currently reading "A Different Shade of Magic". I am excited to join the TWE team and join a community that seems very welcoming!

My Top 3 Articles
1) "Dealing with Depression and Joining TWE" by Cody- I really liked this article because I relate strongly to Cody. We have had very similar experiences with depression, from forgetting medication to figuring out what helps us best. I hope that like Cody I can also make new friends within TWE.
2)"How the Pro-ED Community Affected me and my Self Esteem" by Alex- This is one of my favorite articles because I do not really know much about eating disorders. I have never had one myself or, to my knowledge, known anyone who has. But I am an overweight girl and societal pressures have made me wonder "would it help to eat less?". Reading through this article reinforced the idea that there are healthier ways to become confident with my body that don't involve reinforcing harmful behaviors.
3)"My Pride Experience" by Joshua- I liked this article because it gave me insight on what Pride is like in other countries. Pride in my town takes place in April because it is too hot to host it in June. Every year we get protestors and every year my friends and I watch as the community comes together to block out the hate. I find it really interesting to hear what other countries do for Pride first hand instead of hearing about them on the news.
