Sexualities can vary from person to person and accepting your sexuality can be a journey in itself. It's a normal thing to try to figure out who you like and what steps you can take to achieve that goal of yours. Sexuality and identity can be described as a form of attractiveness. Whether that is emotional, sexual, or even physical!
It can be hard to identify your sexuality, to begin with. You can feel like you are one thing, but later on, you can identify with something completely different. Whatever feels comfortable to you is something you should pursue. Waking up and realizing you're someone different that everyone has yet to know can be scary, yet invigorating. Sure it can be difficult to understand what you are going through, but nonetheless, it opens up your eyes! The LGBTQ+ community has many different sexualities and identities that you can take on. Some sexualities are Lesbian, Gay, Queer, Bisexual, and many more. Some identities are Transgender, Cisgender, and Non - Binary. The purpose of you knowing your identity can help you with all of the more major things about your life. If you know who you are first, then you can get to know who you like and what it can do for you in the future. Sometimes people can have an identity crisis, but this is completely normal! Many people don't know who they want to be or who they are yet and honestly, time heals all. So don't feel pressured to identify yourself just yet if you are unsure. In my experience, when I was 9 years old, I knew I liked females in some way. My mind was scared and it kept me wondering, “What will this person think about me”, or, “Will I be accepted by friends and family?” These things scared me and made me want to ignore my feelings. As time went on, I realized that my true self could not be hidden anymore. I built up a mindset where I told myself if someone were to give me any problems about who I was, I would turn the other way. It was up to me to figure out if I wanted to be happy. I went from being straight, to being confused, to thinking I’m bisexual, to identifying as bisexual, then being lesbian. I was confused because I never really understood what anything meant. As I did my research I learned more and more about how I was feeling and how it related to different sexualities. When I came to terms with me being Lesbian. I felt as if a huge weight was lifted off my chest. My journey shows that it's okay to be confused and you will hopefully figure it out eventually. One key takeaway that I found is that it's okay to not know who you are just yet. Keep exploring and see what seems right to you! Also If you research identities and sexualities you might find a definition of something that you can relate to. All in all, you are human. You aren’t perfect. As time goes on you will start to learn the ropes to understanding yourself. Don't be afraid to ask questions to people who are around you. The LGBTQ+ community is very accepting. Wherever you are in your journey you are not alone. I hope you liked my article and could get some peace within your struggles. It gets better. -Melody x HELPLINES LGBT HOTLINE FOR YOUTH: 800-246-7743 LGBT NATIONAL HOTLINE: 888-843-4564

Anxiety comes in different forms for different people; some scenarios and episodes can be more severe than others. Sometimes, you need to experience your own form of anxiety to help yourself get through it in the future.
Anxiety means that you are in a state of worry, or you feel nervous. There are many different types of anxieties such as separation anxiety, social anxiety, or maybe anxiety towards a specific phobia about something. These things can take over your life if you let them, but if you continue to work hard towards your goal of beating your anxiety, you should definitely be able to get yourself there. When my anxiety becomes apparent to me, I start to overthink, become more pessimistic, and my thoughts become clustered. I have major general anxiety, which means that there can be different scenarios which cause me to have a panicky feeling that I can't get over. When I first realized what was happening I wanted to get help right away. I talked to my therapist and I told her all of the things that I was experiencing. She asked me all of these questions that I never thought about and really made me think about myself in a more emotional way. After I talked to her I felt as if the weight was lifted off my chest. Communication is the number one key for me to help my anxiety and it might be for you as well. Whenever my anxiety becomes clear to me, I decide to put myself in an environment where I feel safe. An example would be in my room with music, or simply on my bed. I’ve learned that the feelings I experience when anxious are normal. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
This uneasy feeling that accompanies anxiety can come and go, but you should always try to rise above it. You know yourself better than anyone. Therefore, the way you handle this situation can be personal towards yourself. Don't forget to be cautious of what induces anxiety and try to stay away from it. Remember that you are not alone!
