What I Love the Most About You

12/7/2020

You know what I love the most about you?
The way you allow yourself to be so unguarded with me.
Unable to mask your emotions,
Letting me see the ugliest ones you’d rather hide,
It makes you vulnerable,
But you’re not scared.
You trust me enough
that my love is unconditional
And I’ll always love who you were,
Who you are
And who you are destined to become.

Because love is not just about the person you see in front of you-
Love is reaching the soul behind the mask,
Promising to welcome change and embrace it.
Accepting that they won’t always be the same person you see today,
But you want to see the person they’ll be tomorrow.
Wanting to explore them,
Finding beauty in the hidden little things that will only reveal themselves in time.

To me, vulnerability isn’t a weakness.
It shows courage and faith in yourself,
To trust someone else with the depths of your soul,
That they’ll lift the burden off your shoulders
And won’t reach into your heart and make it heavy with a new one.

Showing emotion in a world where it has become a normality to hide
And present a tough facade is heartbreaking;
You have learned to do something not everyone has mastered yet.
While everyone is drowning in themselves,
You have learned to release untamed waves
And let them roll out of you.
There is always a risk in letting someone see your soul,
A soul that is unmasked and imperfect.

Confiding in yourself
And others
Is what makes you strong enough
To forget the urge to run away and hide.

Maybe growing up isn’t just about learning to be independent,
Standing on your own two feet.
It’s about learning to love yourself
For who you are
Whilst still figuring it out.

That’s it,
That’s what I love the most:
The way you trust yourself to be your own guidance
And navigate yourself through a world of uncertainty.

I love that you let your emotions go wild,
You let them be known,
You let them be free.

In my articles, I aim to offer less generic advice that I wish I would’ve known earlier and I hope that it can help others in some way.

I hope that this makes people feel less alone when going through difficult times, whether that’s struggling to find motivation or feeling unsure of themselves.
