Feeling lonely

28/5/2019

Loneliness is a thing that many people feel. It really does suck to feel like you're alone. It really does feel like a empty space you can’t fill.

My Experience with Loneliness:
In Kindergarten is when I first felt this feeling. I had no friends, and I spent my recess on the swings staring at the ground. Sometimes I would sing as a comfort to me, and that brought some joy to me. I soon made some really good friends come the first grade, including my best friend to this day.

Flash forward to 5th grade. I’m now for the first time at a public school. I was a outsider, the weird kid. I had a group of fake friends who constantly tormented me. I spent 5th grade hiding on the playground drawing, wishing for a better life. Oh I wished my life would be amazing, oh I hoped so much. Loneliness caught up again with me in 8th grade. That’s when it took residence inside me. I was friendless since I was in a new school, it was the most overwhelming emotion ever. I made friends and made more and more as the months and years went on, but it was still there. I was still a loner.

How To Deal with Loneliness:

1. Socialise
This is a extremely hard thing to do most likely, believe me. But, if you get out yourself out there you could find people who share your interests and that like you and you could built a friendship out of it. Join clubs, start up conversations with your peers, make your name be known.

2. Don’t compare other’s lives to yours

If you compare other’s people’s lives to your own, it’s quite a miserable experience. They probably have their own problems just like you that make them unhappy.

3. Remain kind to everyone

Just because your upset does not mean you have to make others feel upset. If your kind to the universe, the universe will be kind back to you.

4. Know your future is unwritten.
Most likely it will not be like this forever. There are so many great people out there in the world who you could love. You just have to get yourself out there and find them.

I know it may be hard to feel lonely, but this is just one stage in your life. Go out there and make the best out of life.

If you ever need someone to talk to, maybe to feel less lonely, know I’m here for you.

(This article is based on my experiences, opinions, and research regarding Loneliness. All opinions and experiences are my own).
