Loving yourself

28/5/2019

Learning to love yourself can be very difficult, even to this day I have days where I feel positive about myself and other days where I feel so awful and negative. I'm trying my best to get to a point where I'm happy with myself though. Here are some of my tips for ways to love yourself:
  • Be confident- Yes, I know, if you're reading this article you probably arent overly confident but guaranteed if you become more sure in yourself and who you are then you'll find it a lot easier to like yourself. So my advice for gaining confidence in yourself is to fake it till you make it, which sounds silly but honestly if you  act confident then you're more likely to become confident.
  • If you feel negative about yourself, you are perfectly entitled to change aspects of yourself and reinvent yourself as long as you aren't put in harm. Go crazy, dye your hair blue or cut it super short. Get a piercing, start working out and eating healthier, do whatever you need to do to make yourself happy (just stay safe)
  • Find things that you like about yourself, they don't even have to be physical attributes. For example: I like how thoughtful I can be and on occasion I quite like my eyes. Wake up every morning and take time whilst you're getting ready to point out things that you like about yourself. Honestly, it can be amazing for your self esteem. If you begin to have confidence and like yourself then others will feel the way you do too.
  • Practice doing the things that you like, the more you practice the more you' ll improve. Having a talent and outlet like drawing or writing or playing an instrument can not only allow you to vent your feelings, it also can do wonders for your self esteem because it makes you feel like you're good at something and achieving something. So start practicing and doing things that you like, maybe enter contests or apply for a website like TWE.
Stop comparing yourself to others. Yeah they may be beautiful, but you don't have to be beautiful like them, daisies are lovely as are stars and they are so vastly different. So be beautiful like you. Ultimately, you are the person that you have to spend the rest of your life with so it makes sense to love yourself.

Even if you're not happy with yourself, you can grow and evolve and start to become completely content with yourself. You are yours before anyone else's. So maybe rather than hating every inch of your being, you get up with a smile make yourself a cup of coffee and find one thing that you like about yourself. Whether it's the way your eyes twinkle in the moonlight or how fiercely competitive you are. Just be you.
