With the new year around the corner, we can often make resolutions that are either unlikely or not beneficial to us.
When it comes to making resolutions, don't wait for new year to actually fulfil it. If you think you want to do something throughout the year, then by all means go for it and put your mind to it! There are some really great resolutions that help people a lot, such as exercising, going out more, travelling and so on, but there are some small resolutions you can set yourself that also help others around you. You could aim to give a little money to either charity or the homeless, any spare change you have put it in one of the charity buckets, do it throughout the year and then it will come natural to you. Perhaps meet up with friends you haven't seen for a while, see how they are, aim to meet an internet friend (if possible) it's an incredible feeling, but a lot of planning needs to take place so perhaps make a small savings jar and plan out where and when you could meet. The list of small things to do is really endless; perhaps find a job or volunteering work, maybe help your parents out with their work, spend less hours in your room, go outside, go and take some photos, read books or get into a genre of film- learn about something and put your mind to it, you may find yourself loving what you're learning about- school isn't the only place we have to learn. However, there are some things to not do when it comes to resolutions- don't base your resolutions off of what others have said they're doing or what others have said you should do. Think them for yourself, come up with exciting ways to change your lifestyle, or perhaps change how you are. Don't diet if it's not necessary, don't change the way you look because someone said you should, don't spend all your money on things you don't need but said you'd save for because everyone else has them. Stick to who you are this new years, don't change the way you are for anybody but yourself. Embrace everything and everyone around you, and above all, make it a resolution to love yourself. Emie
