TWE Takeover on the radio

On Friday 6th April, 4 members of the TWE family visited KCC radio, we had recently visited a week before to plan ahead on what will be happening and on this day we would be recording and getting our work done.  The members were Emily {Head of TWE}, Courtney {Head of Supervisors}, Naomi {Head of Social Media} and myself, Alice {Social media admin}. 

Our day started early with all of us meeting up for an inevitable McDonald’s trip. After fuelling ourselves up for the day we set off to KCC live. We made sure to vlog the day on all of our social media platforms.

With arrival, we all signed in and met up Chrissy who is the owner of KCC live and she welcomed us and gave us an introduction to the studio we would be working in and how to use the microphones and speakers, we were interested in the music library KCC had to offer and our first search was Ariana Grande (of course, Emily and Courtney were fangirling).  

After this, we were left to record our podcasts, in which we brought our articles to life. The experience became more intense for us at this point, therefore it was essential for us to practice to make sure we were confident before starting to record our articles. 

I and Emily practised together firstly and it went by smoothly and we had a conversation about our interests such as Hunger Games, Ariana Grande and Panic! At the disco. Courtney and Naomi got a practice as they got to record their introductions.

We all weren’t perfect as we all had nerves in our voices as the microphones were intimidating and all the responsibility of having professional equipment. We charged at this opportunity though and started recording our articles. I volunteered as tribute first to read an article by Joey which was about trying something new, after that we all took turns to read the articles and we got at least 2 done each and were very productive in our time.

After being in the studio recording for a whole 3 hours (it felt like 20 minutes!) we left our fun little room and went to the main office to discuss further plans to record and edit the videos, we also got trained on the rules of radio for when our articles were aired.

Overall, we had an amazing day as a team and it was very productive and we supported each other as we were filled with nerves but by the end of the day, we felt more confident recording.

KCC Live is a wonderful opportunity for us at TWE as it allows us to reach out to a variety of audiences to make them aware of our platform, as our purpose is to be a resource should anybody need us. we are looking forward to our partnership with KCC Live and what the future holds for us.
