Writer’s block can feel like the worst thing to overcome when you’re stuck in the middle of it. To help you get through this, I’ve come up with a list of writing prompts that could help!
  1. What does it feel like to fall in love for the first time?
  2. You live in post-apocalyptic America and the only company you have is your high school enemy. After they almost die, leaving you alone, you realise that your feelings might be deeper. How do you process this?
  3. Write a love story based off of a real life experience but with your ideal ending.
  4. After a crazy night in Las Vegas you wake up next to your new husband/wife. Over breakfast you try to piece together the events of the night that led to you getting married. What happened?
  5. Your best friend of ten years reveals that they have feelings for you, how do you react?
  6. You wake up to find out that you have been given the job of Cupid - what is your process of deciding that two people are soulmates?
  7. You have recently broken up with the person you believed to be the best love of your life. For closure you decide to write a letter, what does it say?
  8. A blind date set up by your best friend turns out to be with your childhood sweetheart who you haven’t seen in over ten years. How does it go?
  9. You begin to see the ghosts of people’s long lost loves. The man that follows your grandmother is not your grandfather who passed away. You decide to confront her about it. Who is this man?
  10. A take on Romeo and Juliet, but instead of the tragic ending, they live a long, happy life. What are some of their highlights?
If any of these writing prompts helped you overcome your writer’s block, let us know, and be sure to send it in to be featured on our short stories page!
